Buck Saw, Sweep Saw, Turning Saw, or Frame SawA single person saw used for crosscutting wood poles and logs up to 12 inches in diameter. At one time or another most farmers would be seen cutting firewood using such a saw. Saws similar to this one date back to the 13th Century. The Russian Czar, Peter the Great, imposed a law requiring the use of the saw as a way to eliminate wasting timber. |
