New England Wagon Jack

Used to change or repair a wheel on the carriage.

The carriage axial sits on the step-like mechanism and the chain secures the axial to the jack to protect against slipping.  With the axial raised, the wheel could be changed or repaired.  In most cases the farmer would use this tool to repair broken spokes on the wheel.
