Rail Road Work
Gloves
were worn year around. The large cuffs prevented sparks from entering
the fireman’s shirt. The cuffs also protected the worker from injury
as he climbed aboard the engine cab or as he moved from car to car. A
rail road employee had to be athletic to climb aboard or jump off a
moving train! Not a good time to get one’s shirt caught on a moving
train |
