1970: Brookfield Veterans of Foreign Wars
Veterans of Foreign Wars Brookfield Post 10201 (1970)
Brookfield Memorial Post Number 10201 Veterans of Foreign Wars was organized and mustered on November 22, 1970. The Post’s first Commander, Arthur C. Eberle provided the leadership and direction to make that historical event come to fruition.
The Post, celebrating its 35th anniversary in November has never had their own Post Home, but has continually met all their requirements for meetings and service. They currently meet at the Brookfield Community Center. Thomas Gallagan is the 10th and the current Post Commander.
The Post has assumed the role of providing service, patriotism and honor to our Community and State. They have organized and funded our Memorial Day Parades, visited hospitalized veterans, and raised funds for the relief of distressed veterans and their families. In addition to supporting many youth orientated programs, they honor the past, current and future men and women who have or may serve in the Armed Services of the United States of America.
By their presence among us, they are the living testimony to all the reasons for the rights and privileges we enjoy each day of our lives. They put their lives on hold and in harms way so that we remain free to enjoy the Spirit of America.
